Terence Bridgett

Gauteng

Born and bred in Cape Town, Terence began his schooling at The Drakensberg Boys Choir, matriculated from SACS and graduated from UCT Drama School with a Fleur du Cap nomination for Most Promising Student.  His career began in – and continues to return to – the theatre, credits including Elizabeth, Crimes of the Heart, My Night with Reg, The Unvarnished Truth, Love! Valour! Compassion!, My Aand met Arné, Sing, Pinocchio – The Pantomime, and Master Harold and the Boys.His love for Shakespeare had led to performances in Macbeth, A Winters Tale, Twelfth Night, Cardenio and his most recent appearance on the boards as “Bottom” in A Midsummer Nights Dream.


On the Musical Theatre stage, Terence has been seen in Into the Woods, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Kinkels innie Kabel, A Funny Thing happened on the way to The Forum, Saturday Night Fever, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show. His theatre production company Ateball Productions has mounted Love! Valour! Compassion!, My Night with Reg, So Waar as Vet, Hartsondes, Plofstof, and the 25th-anniversary production of Poppie Nongena. He has also directed Big Fish – The Musical, Titus Androgynous and A Midsummer Nights Dream. 


Long since dubbed by the media as South Africas Original Soap Slut – his television credits include Isidingo, 7de Laan, Generations, Binnelanders, Backstage, High Rollers, Erfsondes, Jozi H, The Lab, Zero Tolerance, 90 Plein Street, Snitch, Hotnotsgode, Konsternasie Oppie Stasie, Fishy Fêshuns, Going Up, Netwerk, Rough, Those who Can’t Harvest, Rugby Motors, Knapsekêrels, and Dwaalster.


Terence also enjoys cooking – and came 3rd in SA’s Celebrity Masterchef. He is currently on the small screen in High Rollers and is shooting KykNet’s new drama Bewolkte Hart. Fanagalo Films – his television production company with partner Paul du Toit – has produced a 13 part travel show Rough or Smooth, which is currently on air in SA and Canada, with Season 2 in pre-production. On the local silver screen, Terence has appeared in Swop, Skeem, Lollipop 2, Pretville, Jimmy in Pienk, Shooting Pinks, Storms of the Heart, The Journey, Musiek vir die Agtergrond, Knysna, Liewe Kersvader and Happiness is a Four Letter Word.


His international film credits include From Dusk till Dawn 3, Diamond Girl, Pavement, Global Effect and Sumuru. He feels privileged to have worked opposite John Malkovich in Disgrace and Samuel L Jackson in the revisited animé film KITE. Mantelpiece moments include a SAFTA Award – Best Supporting Actor (Erfsondes), an AVANTI Award – Best Supporting Actor (Isidingo), an ATKV Mediaveertjie – Best Actor (Binneland) and in 2010 he was voted by the public at the YOU Spectacular Awards as “South Africa’s Favourite Actor” Terence is also a teacher, lecturer, and writer.


His first one-man show, a cabaret entitled All Soaped Up – between Fact, Foam and Fiction will soon be followed by OOPGESKEUR, which is set to hit the festival circuit in 2021.
