They combine live instrumentation with DJ. It was founded by Tich Makalisa who is a seasoned jazz musician who has performed at festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, London Jazz Festival, Grahamstown Arts Festival amongst many others. Origami produces their own music and will be releasing an album towards the end of 2018. It’s members include: Tich Makalisa – Keyboards and Production Jayson Ralph – Decks and Production Brian Mambo – Electronic Drums & Percussion The group occasionally features special guests on Vocals, Guitar and Saxophone as well as guest DJ’s from time to time.

We will get back to you shortly Event details Gauteng 2PM DJs might share the same name and childhood experiences, but is it their passion for the hip-hop genre that promises to change the perception of women in the nightclub deejay scene?Palesa Manne, 28, and Palesa Maakwe, 30, both originally from Kagiso, west of Joburg, left their comfortable jobs as a tax agent and a bank motor financial consultant respectively to pursue a career playing mainly hip hop at joints around Mogale City. Three years later, 2PM DJs have grown their business and brand as their long list of gigs goes beyond the Kagiso area. “We have known each other since our early teens and we even went to the same schools. But it was after we finished high school that we realised that we were hanging out at the same turn ups (parties) and we seemed to enjoy the same music genre, hip hop. We even joked that we would be DJs, but at the time there weren’t a lot of female DJs around,” said Manne. They continued to pursue their individual career paths but their passion for music was still burning within them until they took the plunge in 2017.

Performance highlights include the One World Music Festival, M-Net Idols, Huisgenoot Skouspel, Starlight Classics, The Voice, The Presidential Inauguration, KKNK, The National Arts Festival, The South African Music Awards, as well as performances with Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Celtic Women. From the knowledge he acquired from being taught music at school, he started playing with garage bands and gospel bands, as he was developing his sound. He was later discovered by different cover bands, and so began his career as one of the most determined session musicians in Johannesburg. He later moved on to playing clubs, playing standards with instrumental jazz bands. Over the years, Godfrey has developed his own unique style of saxophone playing that reflects the many eclectic genres within the South African music environment. He has become a significant voice within South Africa on the contemporary African and jazz music landscape.

His first taste of performing was in a SACCEE award winning comical rendition of Macbeth. He studied at AFDA (African Film and Drama Academy). It was during his 2nd year that he got his first experience of a professional film set in Jozi Streets. After graduation he concentrated on musical theatre. But his fondest memories are playing alongside his father in ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum’ and playing Brad Majors in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’, one of his all time favourite shows as a teenager. He was also nominated for a Naledi Award for his Rocky Horror performance as Best New-Comer. He also played Prince Charming in the Roger’s & Hammerstein classic, Cinderella with a live orchestra, which he won the Durban Theatre Award for Best Male Lead in a Musical. His two most recent appearances were in the international touring company of Jersey Boys and Sound of Music, which toured all over Asia and New Zealand. He is also an accomplished Voice Over artist and writer.
