We will get back to you shortly Event details Phone BIOGRAPHY Award-winning South African jazz artist, Melorie Jane hails from Pretoria, where she completed her bachelor's degree in music and started her music career performing with her afro-jazz and funk band, ALL the MORE. She soon started composing her own music, of which she released her debut EP in 2018, Different View . This EP featured her quintet, showcasing music in a contemporary South African Jazz idiom, delving into the contemporary style she encountered as a student while attending the National Arts Festival in Makhanda regularly. The artist mentions that this is where she was exposed to the contemporary jazz of musicians to the likes of Kyle Shepherd, Bokani Dyer, Kesivan Naidoo, Carlo Mombelli and more. Melorie Jane went on to study her masters at the University of Stellenbosch in 2020 and released her debut album, More or Less in November 2021. This release has claimed a double victory at the Mzantsi Jazz Awards in August 2022, for Best Jazz Female in 2021 and for the Best Jazz Album in 2021. The album has been applauded as “absolutely brilliant” by Nothemba Madumo on the Urban Jazz Experience on Metro FM and “such a refreshing style to listen to” on Expresso Morning Show on SABC 3. The artist, who is currently based in Franschhoek, has since performed at respected jazz venues such as Alliance Française, The Blue Room and The Piano Bar in Cape Town, she has also made an appearance at the Spier Amphitheatre with the Stellenbo sch University Big Band, sharing the stage with Anna Davel and Gloria Bosman. Chris’ first gig came at age 12 when he performed regularly at his primary school’s socials. He went on to DJ at various 21st Birthdays and officially became an on air DJ on TUKSFM (JOU MA) he then progressed to performing at matric dances, night clubs and events. DJ Chris K cemented himself as pioneer of Pretoria’s entertainment industry at Stones Hatfield, where he became a regular DJ. He played a one man show at Zanzu Night Club’s renowned hip hop floor. He went on to become a resident DJ at FTV Brooklyn, FTV Parkview as well as Pangea Lounge. He was a resident DJ at Babalwa Mneno’s VIP Fashion Wednesday (Cocoon), the VIP Room in Sandton before Joining the Taboo group as a resident at Vanity PTA. DJ Chris K was one of the originals DJs of the Homecoming picnics and remains a regular fixture for their annual All White and Suit and Tie events. Having entertained at several corporate and private functions all over South Africa it was time to step out of the country. DJ Chris K now regularly travels to Mozambique to perform, most notably at the Vivo Beats festival and 1 Millions Sunrise Festival. Riaad is planning two comedy specials for late 2018 and early 2019. The comedy special of his latest comedy tour, 'Life Begins,' will end 2018 on a high note. 'Why Do You Talk the Way You Do?' by Riaad will be released on Netflix in early 2019. Riaad is now developing "The Best Medicine," the world's first amusing medical educational show, in which he uses humour to impart critical and useful health promotional information. Riaad is a medical doctor, but he is better known as a standup comedian and actor. He played Ahmed Kathrada in Anant Singh's Oscar and Golden Globe-winning film 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.' Riaad first developed his comedic and dramatic acting skills as the lead in the globally acclaimed film 'Material' (which he also co-wrote), which continues to inspire audiences all over South Africa and Film festival audiences all over the world.
