Since his debut as a host at the Coffee Lounge comic Club in 1997, he has established himself as one of South Africa's most bankable comic acts. The former Art Director made a sensible decision; graphic design's demise is comedy's gain. He enjoys making others laugh. He has appeared at the Vodacom International Comedy Festival, the Cape Town International Comedy Festival, and the Smirnoff Comedy Festival, and he was one of the first South African stand-ups to be asked to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012, alongside Loyiso Gola. He has been in numerous advertisements, some of which have gone on to win prizes and become viral hits. Origami produces their own music and will be releasing an album towards the end of 2018. This year, Jacques released an Afrikaans album called Sluit dit oop in the adult contemporary genre. He sings and performs keyboards, guitar, and light percussion in his current live shows, which are accompanied by his own arrangements of pre-recorded orchestration. He has a large repertoire of over 300 songs for various sorts of performances. English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Afrikaans songs are performed. International popular covers range from soft, jazzy to rock and blues. Here are just a few examples: Santana, Steppenwolf, The Doors, Sting, The Beatles, Bee Gees, Nat King Cole, Randy Crawford, Righteous Brothers, Charles Aznavour, and a slew of others have all performed.
