< Back Interactive Gumboot Dancing Gauteng ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly Company Event details Gumboot dancing originated in the gold mines of Johannesburg, deep down in the shafts. The miners used the sounds of stepping together, smacking their boots, clapping their hands and dancing together to create a gumboot dance rhythm to distract them from the long treacherous hours beneath the ground and to operate as a team. We dress each delegate with an overall and a pair of gumboots with bottle top shakers, true miners style. Our professional facilitators will teach you a few basic dance steps which form a “”gumboot dance routine”” and within minutes your delegates will be dancing as a team. TESTIMONIALS “The staff loved it, thank you!” – THE PREPAID CO. “I just want to say thank you! The guys were great, thanks a million.” – OFFICE OF AUDITOR GENERAL “We had a wonderful evening, still talking about it.” – BLUE BARN“ It was great fun. < Back ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly Event details Nomadic Orchestra Western Cape The Nomadic Orchestra/Orkes/Orkestar is a Cape Town based band dedicated to making dancing happen. The Nomadic Orchestra is a five-piece instrumental dance band based in Cape Town. The primary goal of the Nomadic Orchestra is to get people moving. The band makes an infectious kind of high-energy dance music – even the most prudish find themselves unconsciously tapping their feet. The Nomadic Orchestra is strongly influenced by traditional music from the countries of South-Eastern Europe: Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. They are also influenced by Klezmer, gypsy and circus music as well as contemporary western party music. Their musical training brings a strong jazz aesthetic to the band, and thus an emphasis on improvisation. The music that the Nomads play is original and composed by members of the band. History: The Nomadic Orchestra was born at the party “Balkanology: The Resurrection” in April 2009. Balkanology has been bringing quality Balkan music – both live and electronic – to the Cape Town scene for many years and has presented more than a handful of wildly successful parties. As well as playing alongside local acts such as Goldfish, Freshly Ground and Prime Circle (to name just a few), the Nomadic Orchestra have opened for and played back to back with international Balkan acts Shazalakazoo , Boom Pam and Balkan Beat Box. On the Cape Town scene, The Nomadic Orchestra have played gigs with Mr Cat and the Jackal, Ma’original, Toby2Shoes, Kimon, Christian Tiger School, Desmond & the Tutu’s, Alice Pheobe Lou, Bye Beneco, Grassy Spark, The City, 7th Son, Touch Wood, Captain Stu, Manouche, The Bone Collectors and Peachy Keen. The Nomadic Orchestra have played at the festivals Rocking the Daisies, Oppi Koppi, Flamjangled Tea Party, Up The Creek, Synergy, Earthdance, Resonance, White Mountain, Lavender Fest, Park Acoustics, Capital Craft Beer Festival, Balkanology (Resurrection, Metamorphosis, Greek Mythology, Animal Farm) and Splashy Fen. TESTIMONIALS “The recklessness slips into the crowd and a friendly pogo pit develops. People are smiling and random strangers are sharing drinks. There’s a sense of community, something that’s been missing so far at Nanny Fest [RTD 2011]. And suddenly, it was all about the music again. It was a moment where I laughed with joy, had to re-evaluate my opinion and got to dance. In that brief moment Rocking The Daises was a proper festival.” -Mahala’s Roger Young reviews Nomadic Orchestra vs Mr. Cat and the Jackal at RTD 2011

  • Mark Denton

< Back Mark Denton ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly Event details International Born and educated in the Midlands of the UK, Mark has always had a passion for people and an eye for performance. This was first nurtured when working on the shop floor of his family’s shoe manufacturing company in the school holidays, introducing several initiatives to make people feel more valued whilst being more productive in what was a very traditional top-down, numbers focussed environment. The seeds of the importance of people focussed leadership was firmly planted! His early working life was spent running his own car valet business before he sold it to his competitor to attend the University of Bedfordshire as a mature student. Three years later he surfaced with an honours degree in Business Administration with Human Resource Management, which he first put to use as an Account Executive for a media agency in London. But city life was not his destiny, and two years later he left to concentrate on his other passion – sailing. 4 years and 30,000 sea miles later, Mark entered the grueling selection procedure against 186 others to be a skipper on the BT Global Challenge 2000/2001, the ultimate environment to put everything he had learned about sailing and working with people into practice. Victorious, he went on to skipper ‘BP Explorer’, the yacht sponsored by energy giant BP in this toughest of round the world yacht races achieving a podium position. More races followed and for the next three years his feet barely touched the floor. However another calling was emerging, as Mark’s multi-media story recounting the leadership and teamwork lessons learned from the BT Global Challenge took off. This also led him to get involved in many leadership and team development initiatives within these clients, and in 2006 Mark established the dynamic organization development consultancy MAXVMG that he still leads to this day.Mark is also a sought-after Executive and Team coach, and a Master Practitioner and Circle Member of Executive Arts, a company that manages the distribution and use of the innovative Transition Maps that help individuals, teams, and organizations that are grappling with confounding change. Mark lives with his wife, two children, and two dogs near Southampton in Hampshire. Hobbies include skiing, keeping fit, running, cycling, paddleboarding. And of course sailing! TESTIMONIALS I really enjoyed the Resilience Leadership session delivered by Mark. It was relevant, informative and entertaining and most importantly of all it provided food for thought with regards to personal management style and team interaction. Catherine Furey-Blaize Mark, provided the finale to our 2 day Managers conference, his story gave us some very powerful messages about leading people in an engaging, entertaining, very human and well grounded manner. It was a most enjoyable, refreshing, & thought provoking. Lorraine MIldner

  • JOY Movement with Robynn Niemack

< Back ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly Event details JOY Movement with Robynn Niemack Gauteng JOY is a wellness movement anchored in dance fitness. The concept is really a combination of worship and working out. Borne out of the desperate to keep my sanity during Covid-19 and national lockdown, fighting to stay afloat, with sustained economic inactivity and increased body weight weighing in on me simultaneously, Joy was birthed. This programme is the pulling together of the strands of faith, fitness, and friend being woven together to provide a platform for people of all races, places, colours, creeds, and classes to find joy and share it. Gospel Music, which is the backbone of joy, allows participants to be energized, edified and encouraged while we all navigate a season where we have to REBUILD, RESTORE & RENEW. As a woman and activist, I decided to draw the line and stage a sustained protest against any music that objectifies women and reduces all men to predators who seek to plunder our virtue which results in all sorts of abuse, misuse, and destruction of humanity. Joy’s philosophy is simple – every human being as a right to have and share joy, to make this world a better place for all its inhabitants (HUMAN BEINGS). For this reason, we extend this movement to ALL, with a specific focus on the poor, downtrodden, grieving, heartbroken, oppressed, depressed, confused, rejected, isolated, ostracized – victims, villains, and victors. AtJOY, we believe in hope, promise, rejoicing and giving thanks in all situations. Our delightful team is always cheerful, helpful and ready to spread joy to the people meet, and in the opportunities, we are granted, to make a difference in the lives of our clients.
