He was born in the Eastern Cape in a small town called Qumbu where he also started his schooling . Upon realizing his love for music and getting involved in most music related activities in school and in the community, even when he relocated to Umtata where he attended his high school, he decided to go study music full time at Durban University of Technology taking saxophone as his main instrument and graduated with a National Diploma in Music. Performing and Recording Experiences Jeph has had the honor of traveling and performing with the likes of Stimela (2003-2013), Tshepo Tshola (2002-2011), Norman Chauke (2001 to date)Hugh Masekela (2004 USA/China tour), Miriam Makeba (2001-2002) Recorded with : Simphiwe Dana,Thandiswa Mazwai,Tshepo Tshola, Stimela (live DVD), Busi Mhlongo (Live DVD tribute concert),Ntando(live DVD) Debrah Fraser (live DVD)Norman Chauke,Birdie Mboweni, Camagwini, Nhlanhla Nciza and Echoes Zase Mzantsi. Professional Experience He worked as a music lecture at Central Johannesburg Collage between 2003-2006. Lectured music briefly at the Ray Phiri Arts Institute in Nelspruit between June 2006-June 2007. Between 2009-2014 taught music at Beverly Hills High School on a full time GDE post. He's currently part of a team of private music tutors at Royal Academy of Music conducting music private lessons to different individuals in and around Gauteng. Early in 2014 he received a contract to work in Dubai with the band Jazz101 as resident band there until December 2015. He also got invited early in 2017 to join another band named 4theMusic in Qatar to be part of the resident band until late 2017. He worked as part of the resident band at Saxon Hotel since 2017 until the beginning of the lockdown restrictions in March 2021, and recently resumed working again in May 2022. He is also a band leader and co-founder of Echoes Zase Mzantsi a band that prides itself with its authentic South African marabi and mbaqanga sound. Recently co-founded and lead another wind instrument band named Jazzy Brass that focuses on different styles of music from pop , jazz, gospel and almost any song that they find interesting to tackle. In March 2023, he co-founded the South African Music Foundation with the aim of offering free music lessons to young people in disadvantaged area, specifically targeting charity organizations that home such children. Currently he does solo performances at a number of Hotels and restaurants in an around Gauteng, such as, The Fairlawns Boutique Hotel, The Saxon, Manhattan (Pretoria), Kosmos Café (Harties)
