In just six weeks, they completed the largest Southern African tour by a South African artist, with over 125 shows in South Africa, Swaziland, and Botswana, among other countries! They then expanded their wings and rang in the new year with a spectacular New Year's Eve party on the beach at one of Dubai's finest hotels. They were drawn to the international coast and spent six weeks in August and September 2005 touring around England, Ireland, and Dubai, where they were requested to perform at a number of clubs and festivals, including the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. DENIM has a string of hits to their credit and has appeared at some of South Africa's most important events. They are largely regarded as one of South Africa's top live acts. The trio has received numerous honours for their music as well as their presentation and dedication. Ngxoli completed a BA Theatre and Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town in 2000. Jacqui became renowned when she entered an SABC1 reality show called Coca Cola Popstars in 2004. Having teamed up with Mariechan Luiters and Liesl Penniken, the trio placed second in the competition. They then went on to form the group “Jamali” that became extremely popular and the self-titled debut album was certified for gold within weeks. The Jamali album rapidly became platinum with hit singles like “Greatest Love”, “Love me for me” and “Dalile”. The trio recorded 4 albums and was nominated six times at the South African Music Awards and won an award for “Best urban pop” in 2008. Growing up to the humble beginnings in the township of Eldorado Park, Jacqui always dreamt of a successful career in music. BACKGROUND Jacqui Carpede began dancing and singing at the age of 7 years old, her confidence at such a young ageallowed her to enter her first singing competition called “Reach for the Stars‟ or “Keur ryk na die sterre”. At age 14 Jacqui entered the Jam ALLEY “Be a Megastar Competition‟ in 1997. As a runner up she believes she actually won the best prize which was to go on tour with all the local SONY artists at the time. In 2003 the tenacious songstress sneaked into a closed audition where they were looking for a performer to sing at a beautiful holiday resort in Turkey for 6 months, she landed the job however that was not the only accomplishment for her this was also the first time she would travel overseas. Jacqui continued to sharpen her skills and pursue her dreams of becoming a commercial performimgartist by doing cabaret shows and musical theatre.
