  • Rubber Duc

< Back Rubber Duc ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in booking Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly event details Gauteng RUBBER DUC IS SA'S MOST POPULAR ACOUSTIC DANCE MUSIC (ADM) ACT - AND THEY HAVE THE CHART POWER TO PROVE IT. Rubber Duc, South Africa's premier acoustic dance music (ADM) act, has proven their growing popularity and staying power time and time again - from their first release, Ain't Nobody Got Time For That, which still sits at the top of their streaming list internationally, to It's Alright, which cemented the foursome as a household name in the country, all the way to their release, Through The Night, which made it all the way to the top. .Since the release of their debut album (The Secret Sunrise) in 2016, the hitmakers have received one accolade after another, ranging from two SAMA Award nominations to receiving an honourable mention in the prestigious 2017 International Songwriting Competition (with over 16,000 entries from over 140 countries), as well as performing at every major music festival across the country - all this on top of reaching the top of the charts with Through. When asked about having a #1 hit song, Rubber Duc's Nick Jordaan exclaims, "It was and still is an incredible feeling!" We actually took a risk by modifying our sound slightly since we were afraid of losing supporters in the older age categories, but it paid off big time. We were really blown away, and as any artist will tell you, it's not an easy task to achieve. As a result, we're taken more seriously than ever before, and we're working hard to have many more of our songs do the same, reaching the top of a variety of charts."Jordaan adds that they have undoubtedly seen how the higher a single's popularity on radio has a direct impact on sales figures for these specific songs, demonstrating the power that radio still has in building or breaking a band. But who are Rubber Duc's admirers and audience members? "Our fans have been so diverse over the years - from little princesses turning four years old coming to watch us at Casalinga, to playing in the heart of the Underberg for the 80th birthday party of the coolest grandpa in the world, and also performing at every major music festival in South Africa," says band member Amiel Gopal. All we can say is that we love individuals of all ages and are fortunate to be loved in return. "Rubber Duc's rollercoaster ride continues with the release of "Down On My Knees (ft. Lara Gear")."Rubber Duc's amazing team does not let any grass grow under their feet, as they have already returned with a new single, Down On My Knees (Feat. Lara Gear), despite their prior single(s), such as Through The Night, still receiving regular airtime on a number of radio stations. "While we were recording the song, we felt it would be really cool to feature a female vocalist," says Kabelo Seleke of the collaboration with Lara Gear. We looked around and listened to a lot of people, but nothing felt right. Lara was recommended to us by a friend. We were immediately taken with her tone of voice and asked her to please consider joining us on the song, and the rest, as they say, is history. And we're quite pleased with the finished outcome, and we feel our fans will be as well." TESTIMONIALS "The event was fantastic. The band was fantastic. My employees had a fantastic time. Again, the band was fantastic." Nicol from Reflex Solutions

  • Barry Hilton

< Back ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Thanks! We will get back to you shortly Event details Barry Hilton Gauteng Thirty years of touring, six children, two ex-wives, a new wife, six DVD’s, two movies, Vegas, Cleese, Connolly, Monkhouse, millions of air miles and a Lifetime Achiever statue on his mantelpiece…. If Barry Hilton isn’t the quintessential South African comedy giant, no one is. Forged in the fire of the global comedy circuit from London to Hong Kong, this versatile and dynamic comedy icon works the room with magnetic charm and infectious ease. His deft timing and tap-dancing mind leave any crowd thrilled that they came, regardless of their own background. After what can only be described as one of the most successful careers in South African stand-up history, Hilton shows no sign of slowing down. In 2013 he became the first South African to perform at the prestigious Harrah's Improv at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, headlining four shows. 2014 saw the “cousin”, as he is known to a whole nation, do a tour of the UK, open the Hong Kong 2014 Comedy Festival, and slot in some thumping gigs in Singapore and Macau. He more than impressed the famously critical crowd in London’s Clapham Grand and his hilarious performances in Dubai saw him shortlisted alongside John Cleese for the Best Comedy Act in Dubai’s Timeout Nightlife Awards 2013. Not bad for a former electrician who just couldn’t help himself from seeing the funny side. Given the huge scale of his achievements and punishing schedule, Hilton doesn’t seem to age, instead his life experience just provides more fuel for his unique world-view. This seasoned raconteur recently shot the lights out with a sold-out 4200-seat arena show – something no other local comic has ever achieved. In true Barry fashion, he followed that up with a phenomenal sold-out two-hour performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Hilton describes this performance as a career highlight, while ex-patriot South Africans and Australians alike gave rave reviews, including the accolades: “Stellar…” “… first-class” and “thoroughly entertaining…”With sets that are never vulgar, malicious nor mean of spirit, but always funny – Barry is known to several generations as a gentleman comic and a master craftsman with flawless timing, an unpredictable hairline and a gaze that doesn’t miss a thing. Many people may not believe that their favourite funnyman is also a fine dramatic actor – he’s cuthis teeth on some meaty film roles, like Lenny, in “Finding Lenny” where his soulful blend of humourand deep empathy make for meaningful scenes. Corporate entertainer, award-winning stand-up comic, movie star, motivational speaker and actor, talk show host and the face of Savanna Cider and Roman’s Pizza. There is little ground left in the media that Barry hasn’t conquered. His genuinely funny bones, his uncanny ability to gauge a crowd, his firm stance on working clean, and his unflinching work ethic make Barry Hilton an institution that has stood the testament of time and continues to impress as he breaks new ground and makes ‘em laugh all over the world.

Calamity is a youthful Johannesburg Pop Act that has set out to show the world what the next generation of South African rock is capable of. The band was founded in 2015 on the whim of two best friends who share an insatiable desire for music and everything that it entails. Brandon Holz (guitar & vocals) and Luka de Wet (drums) enlisted the most rebellious punk at their school, Josi Goncalves, to form Oh! Calamity... persuade him to leave his current band and switch from guitar to bass! In their search for the fourth 'Puzzle Piece,' the Johannesburg-based schoolmates crossed the boere-wors curtain and, by chance, met their future singer at a Valiant Swart gig in Pretoria (Cafe Barcelona). With the addition of Ruben Pieterse (lead vocals and guitar), the Oh! Calamity lineup was complete, boasting an ensemble of four passionate, brilliant, and motivated musicians that battle continuously and love each other much beyond that... as in any true fraternity! Oh! Calamity add a commercial modern touch to the guitar driven, hard hitting pop rock of the last 20 years - with band members ranging in age from 17 to 19 years old, this fledgling act are pushing their way to the forefront in the new breed of music sweeping the nation. Oh! Calamity was formally added to the Just Music artist roster in October 2017, alongside top South African groups like Matthew Mole and Desmond & The Tutu's, when they inked a recording deal with the label and a publishing arrangement with Sony ATV. Brandon, Luka, Josi, and Ruben have shared stages with Shut Up It's Sunday, The Anti Retro Vinyls, Lloyd Cele, and The Motherland, as well as classic bands, Wonderboom and Sugardrive (when they performed at a memorial show for legendary SA Rock Drummer, the late Garth McLeod) in the short time Oh! Calamity has existed (aside from all the acts at the 2017 Oppi Koppi festival).
