Tich & Dan - Jazz Duo

Tich Makalisa is a talented pianist/keyboardist and composer who began classical piano lessons at the age of 7. He later went on to study Jazz Composition and Arrangement at the UCT College of Music where he obtained an honors degree. He has toured and recorded with the likes of Judith Sephuma, Andrew Young, Jimmy Dludlu and the late Winston Mankuku. He has his own Jazz quartet as well as an Electro/House band called Origami. Tich has a company in Johannesburg; Bigfoot Productions that specializesin bespoke jingles for advertising and scores for Documentary and Film.

Dan Shout is a respected jazz musician based in Cape Town. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Namibia, he took recorder and piano lessons at Oranjemund Primary School. Dan’s official musical journey started when he studied clarinet, piano and saxophone at South African College School (SACS) in Cape Town. In 1999, he enrolled at the South African College of Music at the University Of Cape Town, where he studied classical clarinet and jazz saxophone. He later joined Johnny Cleggs’ band and toured with him for seven years. Dan was a part time lecturer at the UCT College of music for a few years before resigning to concentrate on his company, Shout Music Company that specializes in entertainment for Weddings and Corporate events.
