Kriya Gangiah

Gauteng

“Kriya” (meaning creative in the Indian language) is an absolute dynamo and although she’s still young – this South African television and radio host has enough experience in the media industry to categorise her as a veteran.

Currently making waves on the Breakfast Extra as well as on her show called ‘Kriya Gangiah’ on Jacaranda FM from Monday to Friday and lighting up SA’s small screens with her smile on SABC 3’s MELA programme, Kriya’s career in the media spans over 10 years.

Her enthusiasm and gratitude about her career are infectious, as she remains grateful to get paid to talk. Kriya’s diversity lies in having worked in both radio (for stations such as Highveld Stereo & Ballz Visual Radio) and as a TV presenter. She has also been featured in various print media campaigns as a model for notable companies like Coca Cola and MTN, and has thrived in the spotlight as MC for a number of high profile events sponsored by brands including FNB and Mr South Africa. As recently as September 2016, the stylish 27-year-old was announced as a winner of the prestigious South African Glamour Women of the Year Awards in the media category – rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jackie Burger, Brigitte Reeve-Taylor, Kamini Pather and Karabo Mathang –Tshabuse.

She is known for her boundless energy, infectious personality, warm heart and captivating smile. Kriya was born and bred in the ‘city of gold’, but during her early childhood days she spent a lot of time in Durban visiting her grandparents. At the age of 13 Kriya moved to Pretoria with her family to complete her schooling where she continues to make a name for herself in the community. Since 2007 when Kriya joined the TUKS FM team while completing her degree in Information Science and Multimedia at the University of Pretoria, her relationship with the South African media has blossomed.

In early 2016, Kriya started her latest corporate role as Digital Lead at Kagiso Media having enjoyed a successful career spent as a Senior Consultant in Information Security and in Vulnerability Management at two prominent South African firms, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Deloitte & Touché respectively. The digital space is her playground and keeping on top of trends & the latest gadgets and technology in this ever-changing industry is a guilty pleasure for this under-cover IT geek!
