Kirstin is a vibrant and elegant female saxophonist, currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Kirstin graduated with Honours in Music (BMus) from the University of the Witswatersrand (Wits) in 2018. Her musical training started on the piano and clarinet at the age of 12. She quickly fell in love with the sound of the saxophone and decided to take on the saxophone at the beginning of her musical studies at Wits in 2013. Kirstin is well experienced in different styles of music. She’s played with the Jhb Youth Orchestra, Jhb Symphonic Wind Band, various DJs, a pop group (Cazz), jazz ensembles at Wits, and most recently, was the saxophonist for the South African indie-folk group called “Jerry & The Bandits”.
At the beginning of 2019, Kirstin teamed up with a DJ to launch a new project called ‘EQUILIBRIUM’, which fuses live sax with electronic deep, commercial, and tropical house music. They have received a great response so far. They are the perfect act to book if you want to open up the dancefloor and get the party started, or even during sundowners whilst they play a more mellow laid-back sax house set. The next best thing!
Kirstin has played solo sax at various weddings, private events, birthdays, and corporate shows before. She can tailor her set specifically to what the client wants. She’s got an expanse repertoire of classic sax standards, background lounge music, jazz standards, South African hits, tropical house music, and the newest radio hits. Whether you want music for welcoming drinks, background music while your guests are dining or if you want to get your guests dancing and singing along, she’s got you covered.
Kirstin can be booked as a solo act or with her DJ, as EQUILIBRIUM. With a touch of elegance and a huge passion for music and performing, Kirstin brings something unique to any event.
