Supplier Description | ABOUT// He is author of 19 books, editor-in-chief of South Africa’s first online consumer technology magazine, Gadget.co.za, and writes a weekly technology trends column for South Africa’s largest-circulation newspaper, the Sunday Times. He is co-author, with Nikki Bush, of Tech-Savvy Parenting, “A guide to raising safe children in a digital world”. He is regularly called upon by local and international media to provide commentary on technology news, trends and events. He has appeared frequently on CNN, CNBC Africa, SABC TV, eNCA and China Global TV, and is the resident “tech expert” on several major radio stations, including SAFM and Cape Talk. As an industry analyst, he heads the World Wide Worx research consultancy, leading ground-breaking market research into how change is affecting business and society. His organisation produces the most widely accepted statistics for Internet use in South Africa and has conducted research across Africa since 2001. Arthur oversees projects ranging from e-commerce, mobile business, and digital banking to the factors that make small enterprises more competitive. He has been an international judge in both the Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona and the Cannes International Advertising Festival and has been a judge of the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards since 2011. In 2013, The Institute of IT Professionals of South Africa presented him with the Distinguished Service in ICT Award for his contribution to the industry and named him an Honorary Fellow of the Institute. In its citation, the Institute stated: “He is both a true stalwart and a justifiably well-known personality of the South African ICT Industry and is fully deserving of the 2013 award for Distinguished Service in ICT, having made a genuine career-length contribution to the community and the world of ICT.” In 2019, in recognition of his voluntary work, he was named IT ambassador by ORT SA, a non-profit organisation that mentors and trains thousands of South Africans in business and skills development. |
