Memeza Africa Choir

This multi-talented choir originates from South Africa’s largest black community in the South Western Township (Soweto) which is alive with a vibrant energy and rich in diverse cultures.


Memeza Africa Choir is directed by EMMY Award winner Jimmy Mulovhedzi who is also Musical Director of the multi-GRAMMY Award winners; the Soweto Gospel Choir brings a true fusion of South African spirit and cultures through colourful African costumes, featuring spectacular vocals, poetry, jaw-dropping tribal dances and vibrant traditional drums accompanied by a 4 piece band in an unparalleled blend of styles and sound.


This spirited ensemble has entertained audiences in countries like in Canada, China, Scotland, and Austria and recently returned from their 2015 Mandela in me tour which covered France and Australia.


The intensely energetic and moving performance combines original African and international songs to create a unique musical experience that leave audiences emotionally charged and asking for more.


The show is filled with hits such as Merriam Makeba’s Pata-pata and the Click song, Paradise Road, Weeping, Many Rivers to cross, Bob Marley’s Redemption song, Labi Siffre’s Something inside so strong many more local and international songs.


Memeza believes in interacting with their audience by engaging them in singing and dancing throughout the show….. Our fans should expect and electrifying performance which will take them through a rollercoaster of emotions and in the end they’ll all be singing one word, UNITY!!!
