Western Cape

Sibanye is a Cape Town-based world music ensemble. Their music is a blend of Afropop and township jazz, with accordion, dance, and song colours. With the name "Together as One," they combine legendary Mzansi melodies and tunes from around the world into a uniquely South African vibe. Their live performances are a sight to behold and an unforgettable experience with these talented rainbow nation performers.

Members of the band hail from Gugulethu, Crossroads, Langa, Bloubergstrand, and Melkbosstrand. Sibanye Saam Soos Een, an original Xhosa-Afrikaans song of reconciliation written by band leader Leon Oosthuizen and singer-songwriter Tando Takane, inspired the formation of the group. The band's songs "Sesifikile" and "Sijabulile" have since been played on national and community radio stations.

The South African band has appeared in theatres and at arts festivals such as KKNK, Gariepfees, Olive Festival, and Woordfees. In 2015, national radio broadcast an exclusive live broadcast of their one-hour show at the Gariepfees in Kimberley.

To date, the band has released two albums: Sibanye and Sesifikile Ons Is Hier.
