ABOUT//
Adelia Patricia Douw is the lead vocalist of the Delft Big Band with a captivating story, who has participated in big events like The Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Adelia started singing before she could walk. “It all began when I started to perform at school concerts and Church at the age of 7”, said Adelia, “and it did not take long before I discovered my love for Jazz, Classical and R&B music at the age of 11”.
In 2008, she was introduced to The Delft Big Band where she became the lead vocalist. Nothing brings her greater pleasure than getting up on stage and performing. She noted that the more she interacts with sound, the more her vocal skills improves and that brings her great joy. She is the winner of the Open Mic competition in 2015, as the most promising young jazz singer in the Western Cape.
Recently she has been a solo vocalist at large scale concerts such as at Nederburg Picnic Pops, the Oude Libertas Ampitheatre and the City of Lights Festival. She had the honour of serenading Ahmad Kathrada at the “Freedom of City” ceremony and has
